Sexual Explosion – World’s Most Famous Bare Painting since Picasso, Dali and Modigliani’s Nudes

Sexual Explosion by Jim Warren:
You may recall my post about artist Modigliani’s nudes which were considered pornography in the early 20th century. Lately, another painting thought too scandalous to be demonstrated in the past has suddenly become an acclaimed, hugely popular piece of contemporary art. I’m talking about Jim Warren’s “Sexual Explosion.” It was formerly banned in the U.S. in the 1970s for being too “obscene and sexually explicit.” It’s fascinating how our perceptions change over time of what is considered too sexual or explicit. This painting was made in the beginning of a sexual revolution in http://nudist-young.com/contributions/pics-family-nudist-girl.php ., so does it reveal how far we have come? These days, pornographic pictures turn up everywhere on the Internet and have become considerably more explicit than this. Though society has loosened up in http://wnude.com/young of obvious sexual imagery, it does not mean America has become less puritanical with sex and nudity. This piece is a bit less subtle than Modigliani in its sexual tones, but I do find it unbelievable how much meaning is discreetly depicted by her pose. In spite of it being hidden away for decades, the surreal painting is now a big happening in the art world. It’s even been named the “World’s Most Famous Naked Painting since Picasso, Dali and Modigliani’s Nudes”!
What do you guys think of this contemporary naked art? Could it be worthy of being the most renowned unclothed painting? Now could it still be tagged “sexually explicit”?
